This if for the retail store - which I Love. Love. Love. The employees who work there are all fabulous. Helpful but not pushy. The bacon is phenomenal. The pork is phenomenal. The ham. The many salads (broccoli, potato, coleslaw). They also have pulled pork. Brats. Excellent hot sausage. I mean, honestly, we haven't had anything there that we haven't loved. Oh - they also sell long rolls that beat Amoroso rolls and I never thought I'd find anything better than Amoroso. If you make your own pulled pork, these rolls soak up the BBQ sauce yet still remain buttery and soft without falling apart.<br />
ALSO - they have big giant smoked bones for dogs for two dollars EACH. Not per pound. You'd pay 15+ for these bones in a pet store.<br />
They have bakery treats that vary but if you find any cinnamon rolls with thick icing - BUY THEM. (You can also call and order them -even if it's only one). These are the BEST ROLLS I've ever ever ever had. I'm quite sad it took me so long to discover this place, but the upside is we did and it is WONDERFUL. Can't recommend enough!!!<br />

And in Doylestown, I've been fortunate enough to never have a bad meal.<br />
Saturday night, 4/18 - we (and by we, I mean there were 4 of us) arrived around 6:30 for dinner. No reservations. We had about 1/2 hour wait. When we finally were seated, we ordered apps and our entrees at the same time. We waited. And we waited. We were not the only ones. Everyone sat waiting and waiting. Our apps arrived. Slowly. Spaced far apart. The 4 people sitting next to us had arrived earlier than us and waited even longer than we did. A long lull between apps and our dinner. We ordered salmon, gnocchi, steak (medium) and pork chop. At 8:30, I grabbed the waitress and explained that our guests had a train to catch. Within two minutes, the salmon and gnochhi arrived. The gnocchi dish was the worst excuse for gnocchi I'd ever had. The 'gnocchi' all 4 of them, resembled burnt scrambled eggs. The chicken in the dish were rubbery nuggets. I sent it back, and because 2 people in our party STILL were waiting for food the people who had arrived before us still hadn't received ANY food, I declined to order anything else. After 10 minutes, the pork chop arrived. It was dry and overcooked. 10 minutes after that, the steak arrived. It looked like a Swanson Frozen dinner piece of meat and it included, what we all thought was a biscuit, but turned out to be mashed potatoes that didn't taste like either potato OR biscuit. I watched diner after diner approach their waitresses and complain. Long after we received our meals, the people (who had arrived prior to us) received their meals (2 of which were also steaks).<br />
My gnocchi was comped at well as a round of drinks - still - my worst meal at TGIF like establishments were far better than our experience at Bobby Simones. This was by far, the worst experience I've ever had. Luckily, we were with people who were fun and made the most of the night.Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1940398600353446754.post-21290912981883416402014-10-17T04:43:00.000-07:002014-10-17T04:46:50.001-07:00In Full Swing Thrift (Was Full Circle Thrift)In Full Swing used to be Full Circle Thrift and was located in New Britain. I reviewed <a href="http://laurafreedreviews.blogspot.com/2010/10/full-circle-thrift-store-best.html">Full Circle</a> many years ago, and since then, it's been through many changes, most of them bad and finally, this new move and new store name is just the worst.<br />
The new location has horrible parking.<br />
I went in on a Thursday, which is normally "Ladies Day - 50% off" - only to be told they did away with Ladies Day Thursday. Again. They had tried that years before, lost many customers, and so they brought it back (and brought back the customers).<br />
The new store has a typical thrift store smell (lacking at old location - maybe because it HAD been next to a pizza store!) but...this is the worst...I was shopping with my daughter and she almost stepped on a huge cockroach! We left immediately.<br />
I'm super sad that this shop suffers from "what the boss thinks best" and refuses to listen to what the customers (and employees!) think is best. It's especially sad because donations go to help a womans abuse organization and now, the donations will suffer because of a lack of management.<br />
Recommendation: Bug Exterminator! Pronto!!! Bring back the pricing charts (all sweaters 8.00, all blouses 6.00, etc). Bring back the daily specials. Too bad you can't move again because I'd also say find a better location that has better parking.<br />
I'm happy I stocked up on clothes prior to the move - I get so many compliments and was always eager to send customers their way - very bummed I can no longer do that.<br />
Life is short - enjoy what you have today for it may suffer from management who knows better than their customers!Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1940398600353446754.post-67391330358641673972014-09-01T07:35:00.002-07:002014-09-01T07:35:55.072-07:00Erotic Chocolate Lave Cake - Carmel Kitchen Warrington <iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/CcstPxldeX8" width="420"></iframe><br />

Love this place. Great Angus burger. Love the bun. It's a giant flat roll that is crispy yet also soft. The fries are great. Zesty and crisp. The chickpea fries...eh. I loved the sauces, but, even though the fries had a zing (in the after taste), I wish it had been REALLY fried. John had lobster bisque which he said was great. Also, LOVED the custom cocktails. Honey (in Doylestown) always has really cool cocktails which I've never found elsewhere...until now. Do NOT LEAVE without ordering the molten chocolate lava cake. It. Is. Erotic. We also had the creme brulee which was really good and the portion was larger than most places serve. We sat at the bar, Andy was our bartender and she was attentive without being annoying. I LOVE the "ipad" like menu where you can read about the food AND THEN ORDER and it also shows how much your bill is going to be. I think that's ingenious. Great decor. The only thing I didn't like was the music playing. Cheesy 90's music.<br />
Great addition to the area!<br />

She is awesome. She LISTENS. Her office is clean and exam rooms are clean and cozy. Her staff is AWESOME. It's rare to find a front office staff and a nursing staff, and a doctor, who are all caring and sweet and patient. Dr. Notte is thorough. One doctor once mentioned that her husband (Dr. Chris Notte) had fairy dust in his hair, and I think it's possible that Dr. Rachel Notte also has been sprinkled by fairy dust! I'm grateful there are doctors like Dr. Notte and wish there were more of them!<br />

Great things: He got me in immediately (I had to wait over a month for Ianieri). The waiting room was nice. What I LOVED: the exam room was clean and nice. Dr. Dinesen came in and talked to me while I was still dressed. I told him that I felt I really did have a cyst on my left ovary but it didn't show up on an ultrasound (but it did show up on CAT scan) and he said "Ultrasounds do lie. They lie often." He answered all my questions and when I brought up I might just as well get all my lady parts out since that ovary gave me nothing but trouble and those parts weren't functioning anyway, and my mom had uterine/ovarian cancer, he agreed and asked that I get cardiac clearance first since I'd had a problem under surgery before. He gave me a NICE pink cloth gown to put on after I got undressed so he could examine me. I was impressed, most ob/gyn give you these horrible paper gowns and are about as comfortable as wearing sand paper.<br />
I liked him a-lot, he was no nonsense yet friendly, and took time to make his patients feel comfortable. Now, the only thing that made me hesitant, was the fact that he was sort of bragging how busy his practice is and how he pays his front office more than what other doctors usually pay - how he spends more (on the gowns/sheets) to make patients feel comfortable. I've been in sales, I've studied marketing and business - so those were things I'd noticed immediately. I felt like he was trying to sell me on his practice - which made me start to question why he felt he had to sell me on it. I believe people should be proud of their accomplishments, and perhaps that was all Dinesen was doing - but it came off just a wee bit like bragging.<br />
I had been told by one ob/gyn to keep my lady parts in, Dr. D said "take 'em out" and so I decided to see a third doctor, who I went with simply because I was a bit exhausted by making the rounds of doctors by that time (and my sister in law used her and loved her) HOWEVER, looking back now, even though I'd ultimately choose Dr. Ianieri, I would have chosen Dr. Dinesen. Looking back, I think what I perceived as "boasting" was simply pride. And if Dr. D cares enough to provide nice gowns, a beautiful office, and nice staff - I'm sure he very much cares about the experience and care of his patients.Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1940398600353446754.post-86225810278823029732014-08-07T13:05:00.002-07:002014-08-07T13:05:50.997-07:00Sundae World - Lansdale <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Sundae World is a sister store to the <a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz/sundae-school-hilltown">Sundae Schoo</a>l in Hilltown. I always seem to get lost trying to find my way to Sundae School (women drivers!) so this new location is AWESOME for me (not for my hips though!) because it's closer and super easy to find.<br />
They have CMP's here (as far as I can tell, it's same menu as Sundae School) which is old school up North (think Jim Thorpe area) favorite sundae (chocolate ice cream, marshmallow, peanuts). They have such a super large selection (over 60 flavors I think - it seems to change but it's always amazing). My favorite so far is the Key Lime Pie and Southern Pecan pie. My daughter loves the Dirt Sundae. One suggestion...only some sundaes come in "small" sizes. Perhaps they all do, and you simply have to ask (I will on future visit!) - but it would be great for people like me who love ice cream but try to eat healthy to have small size choices.<br />
Parking is great - of course it doesn't have the unique character that the Sundae School has - but the employees are super friendly and it's super clean and it's just as fantastically delicious! And on Sundays - dogs get free ice cream!<br />

Having been plagued by a cyst on my left ovary (even though I only get my period twice a year) - on the advice of my GI guy, went to this group. The office staff was great. Waiting room was clean and cozy. Great parking. the first practitioner I saw was Shannon Frederick (PAC). Horrible bedside manner. Totally talked down to me. I'd had an ultrasound that said my ovaries were clear but the pain I was having totally felt like prior times I'd had ovarian cysts. And now my mom had uterine/ovarian cancer so I wasn't going to take any cysts lightly. Though I was having considerable pain, bloating, etc, Frederick snapped, "Ultrasounds DON'T LIE!" Okay. I ended up in the ER 8 days later with sever pain in my lower left side and Dr. Jennifer White did a CAT scan and guess what showed up? The cyst that I'd had back in September. Same size, same shape, same place. Could it have grown that fast since the ultrasound "missed" it 8 days before? Dr. White recommended I try her OB/GYN and he assured me "ultrasounds DO lie and they can lie quite often." I was so relieved (to know I wasn't crazy as Frederick had made me feel). I got a call from Doylestown Gynecology asking me why I was having my records transferred to the new OB/GYN and I explained how curt and cold Fredreick had been and they said, "Give us another chance."<br />
So, I was quite touched that they actually wanted to win my business back and so I went to see Dr. Gerstein. She was extremely nice. Really took time to talk to me...but, honestly, she didn't seem to take my symptoms seriously and tried to talk me out of hysterectomy (which I was considering and which Dr. Dinesen had agreed given my family history and my current problems and ongoing cyst, it might be a good thing). So I decided to get a third opinion and in between that time of waiting to see the new doctor - the cyst is now complex and hemorrhagic. So, I can't recommend this practice who kept assuring me there was nothing to worry about and didn't take my concerns at all seriously (and also tried to point out Dr. Dinesen delivers babies and they do NOT, implying that my best bet is their practice because he is so busy). Also, people, remember you are your own best advocate and know your body best!Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1940398600353446754.post-32513470881221266642014-06-23T09:50:00.001-07:002014-06-23T09:50:31.062-07:00East Coast Comfort - Heating and Air Conditioning John and I interviewed 3 companies to install a new water heater. The first two were Silas and Horizon. Their prices were thousands higher than East Coast and after a trip to Philly - I realized why. On the train, there was an advertisement for Silas. And the very next day, a plane flew overheard with a banner for Horizon. Both Horizon and Silas sent out sales reps who drove really nice company vehicles and spent almost an hour giving us a typical sales speech. East Coast Comfort doesn't have sales reps. They send out employees who actually do installations so they know what they are talking about. There is no shiny colorful truck - just a work truck. We ended up going with East Coast Comfort not only because they came in at the lowest (and I mean thousands lower and even put in the same equipment that both corporate companies quoted us) but because it's a small company that doesn't have bells and whistles - they have knowledge, experience, and instead of spending money on advertisements, they rely on word of mouth (a friend recommended which is how we came to call them in the first place). On installation day (new heater) - they discovered a pipe which had been broken which our previous "contracted" oil/heating company never noticed and this was after years of "yearly" inspections. Tony and the other employees were professional yet friendly and I so admire their work ethic and their integrity. On a side note, I offered them something to drink and though they refused, Tony said people rarely ask them that anymore. I was amazed and saddened: don't people have manners any longer? In a country that is screaming about treating people "equally" and "fairly" - it's just absurd that homeowners don't even think to offer contractors a can of soda or glass of ice tea. Yes, you are paying them, but it doesn't mean you're "above" them. Growing up (in the mid-west) anyone who came into our house was treated like a guest. Maybe it's just a mid-west thing, I don't know, but come on people - contractors may be "blue collar" but man, that is an AWESOME thing to be; you called them because they know more than you and are willing to learn something you weren't. At least offer them something to drink!!<br />
End Rant.<br />
Okay. And with that, I highly highly recommend and when you read the reviews for the 'corporate' companies - don't forget that not only do they pay for ads on trains and planes - but they also pay people to write positive reviews for their company and negative reviews for other companies.<br />

I generally find that a place lives up to it's good/bad reviews. I always cancel out the glowing 5 stars given by people with 1 or 2 reviews and do the same for the 1 star (and few reviews).<br />
I've found business owners who don't give a customer a great experience point the fingers at EVERYONE else (the Reviewer! Yelp! Facebook! Don't believe any reviews! Unless they are glowing!!) - that really really ticks me off. Take responsibility for the fact YOU, the owner, need to address criticism.<br />
Anyway...Nicole called me and went into this tirade against Yelp. Then she told me that Karen had been new, but she has come a-llllongggggg way and is doing awesome. Then she told me she would love to do my hair (free of charge) for a hair class. I told her to contact me in January or February. In the meantime, I noticed all her "bad" reviews on Yelp were hidden. I guess she couldn't hide mine because I have been reviewing (both good and bad) for a few years.<br />
Well, she never contacted me. What Ev. There is nothing worse than a business owner who blames the customer or makes excuses for a poor experiences or so I thought until I ran into the business owner that blamed the customer, promised to 'make it right' but never carried through.<br />
<br />
11/18/2013 Review: I'm torn about how to review this place. Ultimately, though, unless things change, I can't recommend based on my experience, which was quite an experience!<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Though I love Blue Hair Studio in Huntingdon Valley, I'm always looking to find something closer to home so I take advantage of Groupon or Living Social Deals when they come along.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I recently tried a Groupon (29.00 for haircut and conditioning treatment) for Dolcissima AFTER reading the Yelp reviews (most of which are hidden). Because many hidden reviews are often either friends or family of business or competitors leaving a bad review - I thought, eh, I'll try it despite many bad reviews. I've since come to the conclusion that many bad "filtered" reviews probably come from customers who were so upset or dissatisfied that though the rarely write reviews, they had such a horrible experience they wanted to alert other people.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Okay. Here is what happened when I took a chance on Dolcissima.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
When I came in for my appointment no one was at the reception desk. I looked in to the hair studio and two stylists were working, both looked up at me, but no one even said hello. No one came out to ask who I was or who I was there for. I started to get nervous when my appointment time came and went and 20 minutes later a stylist came out and introduced herself as Karen.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
She sat me in her chair and I explained I was trying to grow out my pixie and had pictures of how I wanted my haircut. Karen seemed unsure about the cut I wanted (I had pictures of Victoria Beckham) and asked the other stylist if the cut I wanted would "look right."<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
The other stylist assured Karen the cut would look great.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
When Karen was washing my hair, she didn't talk to me at all. Then she put conditioner on my hair which had to soak in for about five minutes and left me with my neck on the uncomfortable sink bowl .<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
After I was back in her chair, with me trying to make small talk (I asked all the questions...was she from the area, did she ever eat at the Tex Mex, etc - I felt like I was the one putting her at ease) she began cutting very nervously. She kept looking at the other stylist who was chatting away with her own customer and asked her if when she got to the nape of my neck, would she (the other stylist) mind cutting it for her because she (Karen) had fat fingers.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Oh. My. God.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
That was when I realized this stylist was either totally new or totally incompetent (I'm hoping new). Karen was not a heavy person, and as far as I could tell, her fingers looked normal. In all of my many many years of haircuts, I've never ever had a stylist ask another if they could cut part of my hair because their fingers were too fat.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
The other stylist said she would help after she was done with her customer. So Karen made little snips in my hair and I could tell she was trying to go very slow, waiting for the other stylist. I actually wondered if I was on a hidden camera show.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Karen looked at me in the mirror and asked me if the cut that she had done so far seemed "even."<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Finally, a different stylist walked in and I believe it was the owner, Nicole. Karen asked Nicole if she could cut the hair around my nape and then Nicole took over and was demonstrating to Karen how to cut my hair the way I had requested. She totally took over (thank god) and started REALLY cutting my hair and explaining that she'd done my cut a million times because people growing out pixies often ask for the same style. Nicole chatted all about how Groupon works and her families place at the shore. I totally relaxed and was so very very very thankful that she arrived when she did. This is why I'm a bit torn about my review.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I feel just because I used a Groupon was no excuse to throw me to a new stylist and then used my hair as a lesson in how to cut. I believe that’s wrong on so many levels and I think, even if you went to a hair styling school, it would be cheaper and overseen by a teacher.<o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
I’d give Nicole five stars for the cut she gave me, but one star (if she was the owner, I’m not even sure) for allowing a brand new stylist (who was very nervous and unsure of herself) to cut a customer’s hair without asking the customer if they were okay with it. So, I'd say, if you're going to use a Groupon, make sure you ask for Nicole - but I just can't trust a business who doesn't value a customer's first impression enough to make sure they are getting the best impression and best service.</div>

<br />
<br />
Update 11/13/2013 - I received an email from Yelp.com that the owner complained about my picture of the raw burger and it was removed from the YELP review. The owner "James F" also left a comment on my review, stating I give mostly one star reviews... FALSE - anyone actually bothers to read my YELP reviews knows that it's mostly 5 fucking star reviews! As a matter of fact, there is a chart that shows the ratings I've given and I've written 27 reviews giving out 5 Star Ratings! I've only written 4 reviews where places are given a 1 star rating and I HATE giving places low ratings because I want to see Mom &amp; Pop's succeed! So if I give a 1 Star, I do it to A) Hope the Business will improve &amp; if not, to warn others not to waste their time/money.<br />
<br />
So, anyway, then, "James F - alleged owner of Pasta Mista" basically blames ME for the fact the burger was raw (I should have personally called the owner/manager!).<br />
<br />
Whatever. If James F treats his customers the way he's treated me, I can only wonder how he treats his employees. Oh, and if you are looking for a good local burger...across the street is a little cute place called "Tu Casa" - good Mexican food but they also have great burgers - and when you order "well done" - even though they are Hispanic, they understand my English when I request a "well done" burger. They are also super friendly and the place is warm and clean.<br />
<br />
Here's Jame's F's comment (in case he decides to remove it from the Yelp site once he realizes that owners of restaurants should try to improve not intimidate)<br />
START DOUCHE BAG RANT:<br />
James F. of Pasta Mista 11/12/2013 <br />
Please read our filtered reviews and not judge my great restaurant on someone that has giving bad reviews to every restaurant in the area except for one. Yes, no excuse for a raw burger, but we apologized and Laura should have asked for the manager/owner and I would have made good on the slice and other items. ATTENTION: Costumers should always ask for owner or manager because the wait staff doesn't have the ability to give food away!"<br />

My original review posted on 4/14/13<br />
Pasta Mista in Chalfont, Pa...<br />
<br />
Pro: It's clean. Staff friendly.<br />
Con - from order of worst to least:<br />
Ordered a Texas burger well done. The outside was done. The inside was RAW (see photos) - red juice totally leaked from the burger and my daughters plate was swimming in red juice. UGH. Took it up to show the counter person. The cook came to counter and said, "well, it's a big burger, it happens." Tried to make me feel bad.<br />
They took the burger off our bill and I requested a slice of pizza instead. They charged me for that (if I owned the place, I would have apologized profusely and given a free slice of pizza or free cannoli)<br />
It took almost 20 minutes for the "well done" burger to arrive.<br />
Took almost 10 minutes for our soda (2) to arrive.<br />
The "chips" (don't' know if they are homemade or not) are brown and taste stale (on the 2 different occasions we tried this place).<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Looked promising (after 20 minute wait)</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
The grilled chicken wrap had a tough (stale?) wrap and was bland.<br />
It was a cold day when we ate in - the place is so small that every time the door opened, it let in a ton of cold air. Had to keep our jackets on the whole time. This probably won't be a problem on warm days.<br />
Steak fries - fine. <br />
The pizza was crisp on the bottom. Pretty good. There's an eggplant pizza and a taco pizza - something that is different from other local places. I haven't tried those, but the pizza I did try (Bruschetta, plain) was good, but nothing that would make me choose Pasta Mista over other local pizza joints.<br />
<br />
I hate to give a bad review to a new business - esp. since there are so few in Chalfont - but we had waited weeks after it opened to try it out. They should have ironed out the slow service and there was no excuse for the raw burger. We gave it one more try by ordering a wrap for a pick up and steak fries - but, while it was ready as promised, it wasn't tasty enough to give this place another chance.Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1940398600353446754.post-87073610926740032142013-03-22T08:46:00.000-07:002013-11-13T07:16:09.908-08:00Be Suspicious Of Free Cookies In The Service Department<br />

I sincerely wish I didn’t have to tell you that I almost had
to shell out almost 800.00 in order for my car to pass inspection. I sincerely
wish I didn’t have to tell you that is appears that a local dealership mislead
me and almost robbed me of 600.00. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I am happy to tell you that I was able to find an honest
service department that saved me that 600.00! (that’s 12 tanks of gas!
Pre-Obama it would have been 23 tanks of gas!). <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
The offending dealership? Kia of Warrington. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
First, let me say we have a KIA and love it. The sales guy
at KIA in Warrington was wonderful. I took my 2003 Grand Am to KIA for the
State/Emissions test because when we bought from KIA, we were told that the
State inspection would be free for ANY car in the family. It seemed an awesome
deal at the time!<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
The pros about the KIA service center in Warrington? Free
cookies in the waiting room! Free coffee! Spacious and comfortable – big T.V. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
And all the employees were extremely nice.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Then one of the service advisors explained that my car
needed almost 800.00 worth of work in order for it to pass state inspection. It
passed emissions. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Lucky for me, I have a family member who then looked at my
car – he agreed that it needed all the repairs suggested by KIA, except for
one. He was able to make the repairs. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
We then took the car to the Pep Boys service center on
County Line Road in Chalfont. The waiting area is not plush. There are no free
cookies. There is free WIFI and a soda vending machine!<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
But I soon discovered there is something far more priceless –
honesty. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
The service repairmen, Matt, called me into the garage. My
car was on the lift and he explained that my family member did indeed make the
needed repairs, but when he fixed the offending brake, he should have also
replaced the other. However; he did agree with my family member that one of the
suggested repairs that KIA had added to the tally was not necessary at all. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Matt explained that dealerships and corporations try to “upsell”
services or repairs that aren’t necessary; they are in business to make money. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Matt, however, didn’t treat me as a deposit slip for his
company’s bank account – he treated me like a person trying to make ends meet,
and though I may not know much about cars, I deserve to be respected and
treated honestly. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
In all the years I’ve taken cars to have them inspected or
serviced or repaired, I’ve never had a service technician actually show me what
was wrong and he also advised me of what I might need down the road and what
would be a waste of time and money. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Sure, Matt could have tried to sell me into buying a repair
I didn’t need – and it would have added to Pep Boys bank account. But what Matt
sold me on was the value of honesty – and I’ll forever be their cheerleader and
recommend anyone who values honesty and savings take their cars to the Pep Boys
on County Line Road in Chalfont. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
The emissions test cost almost 60.00 at KIA – I spent about
100.00 for parts, and the state inspection cost about 30.00 at Pep Boys. But
even if I hadn’t had a family member make the repairs – there was still that “repair”
that KIA told me I needed which would have cost me 200.00+ labor. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
What I learned? There are still auto service technicians who
view drivers as people, not as checkbooks. And a free cookie is never free – somewhere,
somehow, there is someone who paid 600.00 for your complimentary treat.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Short and flirty hair. Love it!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
I have been a loyal client to Blue Hair Studio (still LOVE LOVE LOVE THEM) - but when a Groupon Coupon came up for <a href="http://www.enniosalvatore.com/">Ennio Salvatore Salon</a> - I thought, eh, why not? I have long hair, they really can't screw it up. The economy is tight and Blue is almost an hour away from my house. So I scooped up the Groupon (35.00 for cut, blowout, express Keratin treatment). Then, since the world is going to be ending on Dec 21st - I decided to go from long to short (because why not, the world is ending a day before my birthday and I'm ready for a change!!!) and then thought I was CRAZY to trust someone I'd never met before to do the deed. But what the heck - it's just hair, it will grow back (and if the world ends Dec 21st, it won't matter!). Anyway, so I showed up armed with like 25 photos of how I "maybe" wanted my haircut (yep, I'm one of those annoying clients!) and Stefanie listened and added some input and within 20 minutes, I went from long to short and flirty and LOVED IT. Stefanie wasn't chatty - which for me, is great. There studio is situated on the corner of Germantown Pike and is quite small. There is a very small parking lot, but you can easily park on the side of the street (which I did.) The atmosphere was relaxed and simple. It is not close to my house, but I used the new 202 expressway and was there in 20 minutes. Some salons make you feel like family when you walk in (Blue does this, but I have been going to them for almost 8 years) - but I didn't get that when I walked in. It may have been a busy day, or perhaps they aren't overly friendly. This didn't matter to me, but if you're one of those people who really likes to be coddled at the hair salon - this could be off putting (it was my first trip though, so, like I said, it may have just been an off day.).<br />
The bottom line - Stefanie gave me a GREAT CUT, and I haven't been this short for....I can't even remember - and I'm totally thrilled with it. The back is much shorter and she gave me the option to wear bangs or sweep them to the side. I'd recommend and will be going back to Stefanie. Glad I threw caution to the wind and snapped up the Groupon Coupon - sometimes it's a crap shoot - but this time it was a bulls eye!<br />
As of this posting, they are offering another <a href="http://www.groupon.com/deals/ennio-salvatore-1?pt=aUNHCCDAAAAA4t6Uxd-35LZ6KsUF2qjJr">Groupon Coupon...</a><br />
I'm quite a diva about my hair, so if you are thinking about trying someone new or just want to save some money, I say give it a try!<br />
<br />
2/19/2013Update: I did go back for a second visit because they offered me the same deal if I re-booked that day. That being said - I had to call the salon the week of my visit and one time the phone simply rang (it was 3pm on a Wednesday - they should have been opened) I finally hung up and called back, and then someone answered after many rings and I was put on hold and ended up hanging up after 5 minutes. I gave up calling and then called the next day and was able to get through. Though Stefanie is nice and does a good job cutting hair, the regular cost is as much as my old place (Blue Hair Studio) and the building lacks the warmth of my old place. The positive is that there isn't a separate shampoo person (which saves 5 bucks) but for me, my old place - though it is a long drive - succeeds wildly in every area: large waiting area, fabulous friendly warm employees, complimentary muffins and coffee for munching (it's a sweet touch!). So while it was good for me to "go out of my comfort zone" and try something new, I'd be a fool to not return to the place where hair cuts/styling are the same in price but far outshines Ennio Salvatore's when it comes to atmosphere, attention to detail, and making the customer feel extremely welcome (and the staff is super talented!). It's a really tough economy and every bit counts, which is why since the regular cost is comparable, I'll definitely be returning to Blue.<br />

<br />
"The pig is in." Those four words lit up my iPhone text screen at 9:30 p.m. on a Tuesday night. I was so excited, I jumped out of bed (ok, I'm not exactly a night owl), threw on some boots and didn't even bother grabbing a jacket. THAT is how excited I was (I hate the cold weather and usually don't leave the house without 3 layers of clothing).<br />
A few months ago, my friend Rob who owns Prism Brewery in North Wales suggested I "like" Bespoke Bacon on Facebook.<br />
How could I NOT like a local uncured artisan bacon business?<br />
On Facebook they posted updates that made me drool:<br />
"In stock and ready for you we have:<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3BJCHwC4RYeleDiJrbX_6y11YUAdTF8C0c_dhQWHo3oxi1ddUVl5ybZpAxlRw33YfdkE-BX_XYW7DIjfKMsBtuV330kdBhJrOMda12vkrPN9Sg1FpiBLF9i5WeX72d3DErwgt_zoEW74/s1600/photo+(2).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3BJCHwC4RYeleDiJrbX_6y11YUAdTF8C0c_dhQWHo3oxi1ddUVl5ybZpAxlRw33YfdkE-BX_XYW7DIjfKMsBtuV330kdBhJrOMda12vkrPN9Sg1FpiBLF9i5WeX72d3DErwgt_zoEW74/s200/photo+(2).JPG" width="150" /></a>- Maple and Muscovado<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
Finally, I took the plunge and shot Bespoke Bacon an email and placed an order for the jalapeno cilantro.<br />
The response was almost immediate. And...it turned out that Bryan, one of the founders, was going to be in my area and offered to drop it off - but since it might be really late (that means past 9pm for me) - we agreed that the mailbox would be the drop off point, "Use the code: The Pig Is In," I suggested, inspired by spy novel I've been reading - and having bacon delivered to my mailbox in the middle of the night seemed a bit exotic and covert.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="font-size: 13px; text-align: center;">Bespoke Jalapeno/Cilantro bacon</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I was so excited when the bacon arrived...it took all my willpower not to fry a small batch up right then. I went to sleep though, with dreams of bacon and spices dancing in my head.<br />
<br />
I woke at 4 a.m. and hopped out of bed like Mark Wahlberg was waiting for me in the kitchen, but no, there was something even better: bacon.<br />
I fried a small batch up and oh...geez, what an awesome way to start my day! The flavors were so perfect. Just a hint of jalapeno/cilantro - no heat at all for those who may be too afraid to try it. I noticed that the flavor is more pronounced when you let it cool a few minutes (I couldn't wait for that first taste and bit right in a sizzling hot strip).<br />
<br />
I don't know the guys from Bespoke Bacon - but Bryan texted me, "Let me know what you think, and we always appreciate a shout out."<br />
<br />
After tasting the jalapeno/cilantro bacon, I'm already planning on ordering my next flavor, and my next.<br />
He asked for a shout out, yet part of me wants to keep it a secret. What will happen if I spread the word and they can't keep up with demand? No local bacon? Even Mark Wahlberg wouldn't be able to console me. <br />
I can't keep it a secret though...my giddiness over finding local bacon artisans has elevated me to full stalker mode - a bacon roadie who will babble to everyone who will listen about this great new band of bacon brothers.<br />
<br />
Needless to say: I. Am. A. Fan.<br />
<br />
Their website: <a href="http://www.bespokebacon.com/">www.BespokeBacon.com</a><br />
<br />
Great customer service, super speedy, local, natural, and bacon so damn flavorful...what's not to love?<br />
<br />
I'm thinking this could start a whole new trend...right next to the mailbox...a baconbox (and when the bacon is delivered, it sends an oink alarm to your cell phone) - anyone got the number to Shark Tank?<br />
<br />
If you decide to place an order, use the code words: The Pig Is In The Barn. It won't get you any sort of discount, but it will get you fabulous bacon. <br />

I thought tanning places were all the same (bored teenagers texting while they check you in) until I started tanning here. It may seem like a silly thing, but they leave a little peppermint on a towel on top of the beds. There are earphones and a small boom box so you can listen while you tan. The rooms the beds are in - very roomy (trying to undress in winter in the small booths at the chain shops are very challenging!). There's never any pressure to buy lotions or anything else. The receptionist is always polite and though I was disappointed when she suggested I start with 15 minutes (I tan easily) because they had placed new bulbs in the beds, I went with it and am really glad I did & didn't argue with her. Each time she bumped me up and I have really nice color. Money is tight these days so I understand when tanners chose to take whatever salon has the best deal at the time...but this tanning salon seems to offer similar packages and I would choose them over one of the chains in a heart beat. Parking is great (they are in a strip mall) - and the place is always clean (and warm!! also another bonus in the winter!!). Really, though, the peppermint (such a little thing but I LOVE it!) , the welcoming receptionist, and the spacious rooms are what gives 4 Seasons Tanning the edge over other tanning companies!<br />

UPDATE: My second visit to Dr. Chess, I thought I was getting a filling. While in the chair (happily zooming on Valium) - the Dr. and assistant were discussing overlays and I was told "we're going to be taking a mold of your tooth."<br />
I asked what an overlay was and Dr. Chess explained (as I understand it in regular people terms) it will cover my filling and keep it sealed in. I just think it's part of the filling process.<br />
Uh. NO.<br />
When I go to check out, I'm informed the overlay is going to cost me 1,300 because my dental insurance won't cover it.<br />
WHAT??? I had a mini heart attack - I had NO IDEA this "overlay" wasn't part of the filling. Had I been informed this was an added procedure - I never would have agreed or would have sought a less expensive solution.<br />
I'm taking some responsibility here - I should have made sure I understood EXACTLY what they were going to do, what my treatment plan was going to be. I did research my dental insurance (and therefore, knew my filling was going to be covered.). I cried all the way home (coming down from the Valium) and then when the valium wore off - I was PISSED. First I'd had a dentist and oral surgeon tell me 4 teeth needed to be extracted - then I go to my old dentist who said I only needed 2 extracted, and felt I was dealing with an honest dentist, then after my second treatment, I'm presented with a 1,300 bill. WHAT THE FUCK! Do I have idiot written all over me? I mean, I know I can be an airhead but listen, I felt like I was totally taken advantage of. The receptionist, upon seeing my face after being told the bill, said, "Didn't anyone go over this with you BEFORE your treatment?"<br />
NO!<br />
To me, this is like going to a hair dresser and asking for a shampoo and then while they are "shampooing" your hair, they add color and then charge you for something you never asked for.<br />
I get a call from Arlene the next day (she is wonderful - everyone in the office is super sweet) and said "Good news, your insurance will pay for 800.00!" Well, I guess that depends on how you look at it. Because to me, I'm still being charged for something I had no idea about. I believe this should have been made perfectly clear to me that an overlay was not part of the filling process - and HOW MUCH IT WOULD COST and what other options were available.<br />
This is why I'm unhappy.<br />
Then that stupid tooth broke that night (the temporary overlay came out) and they had to rush me in to fix it in the morning (which they did squeeze me in, so that's great.)<br />
During the check out, I asked that Arlene print me out a treatment plan with potential cost, which she did...but what I really wanted was for someone to sit down and describe everything and give me options. If I were a doctor or dentist, I would start FIRST by a sit down consultation - get to know the doctor & also be given a list of procedures and the cost!!! THEN, if I had a good feeling about the doctor and the office, I would book an appointment for an exam. It's fkin RIDICULOUS that you make an appointment with a new doctor, fill out a bunch of forms about YOURSELF so they know everything about you, then get subjected to ex-rays poking, and prodding, then a Dr. shows up at the end and says, "This is what you need. Nice weather, eh?" And you walk out with a bill that has codes and words you do not understand.<br />
Oh, and of course, if you take your health into your own hands and question procedures you can tell the doctor and staff peg you as difficult.<br />
Again, I will affirm that the staff and Dr. Chess are super fabulous, sweet, friendly, people. My criticism is the lack of communication or rather mis-communication.<br />
Yes, it's great that my insurance company will pay 800.00, however, I only have 1,500 a year to work with. My solution if I had a dental practice and this happened? I'd eat the charges. I wouldn't charge the patient nor the insurance. As a doctor, I would make sure my patient is in total agreement and understands exactly what the procedure entails.<br />
Dr. Chess's office, unfortunately, made it seem like a happy occasion that I would only have to pay 200.00 for a procedure I didn't ask for.<br />
I asked my friends for more local recommendations and spoke with a few receptionists on the phone. They assured me that they would go over a treatment plan and one receptionist was horrified and said, "They are still charging you?"<br />
<br />
So, lesson learned. I will question and get treatment procedures in writing PRIOR to any work being done. If they make me feel like a difficult patient because I want to be educated on procedures and billing, then NEXT...there are plenty of dentists - it took me years to find the best doctor (Dr. Notte!!! Who is not naughty (that's how his name is pronounced) - but very funny, conservative with treatment, and explains everything) - and it took me a zillion shmuck boyfriends till I found the love of my life (my ex husband wasn't a schmuck - we just weren't a good fit - he's a good guy - but all the rest are total shmucks).<br />
<br />
I hope MY experience helps you be more vocal and communicative when dealing with the medical community. And when you find the "right" fit - make sure to spread the word!<br />

Original review was 12/11/12<br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br />
I had been a patient of Dr. Chess years ago but then left
the area. I despise dentists almost as much as spiders...so of course...no
dental pain - no new dentist when I moved. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Fast forward 5 years and a bad tooth later. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I had had a great experience at Chess & Taub BUT they
are almost 40 minutes away from my house now. And I hate driving too (I swear,
I do like most things though...) so I made an appointment with a dentist in
Chalfont. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I liked the office staff (though they only had guy magazines
in the waiting room!) and the hygienist was very nice but the dentist made me feel like a big baby
because I asked about nitrous oxide or anything they could give to help w/
anxiety. Then he told me I needed 4 teeth pulled. What??? He sent me to an oral
surgeon (that they work with). The oral surgeon also said 4 teeth should come
out. I was only having a problem with one, and when he showed me the xrays - I
just didn't see why ALL 4 had to come out. I just had a gut feeling that something
wasn't right.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Though they are far away - I decided it would be worth the
trip to re-vist my old dentist and made an appointment with Dr. Chess and Taub
to get a second opinion. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
They made me feel like party of the family as soon as I
walked through the door. Ally (Allie?) my hygienist TOTALLY put me at ease and
so did Dr. Chess. Dr. Chess is totally relaxed, and you know how you just get a
gut feeling a person has the best intentions? That is Dr. Chess. He looked at
my xrays and teeth and agreed that 2 teeth needed to be removed, but that the
other 2 were very much salvageable. He didn't force the issue and maintained
total professionalism and never came out and said that the other dentist was
wrong - just that they could easily work with the teeth and it's better to keep
your teeth as long as possible - but ultimately he said the decision was up to me. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Yes, I admit I'm a baby when it comes to dental work, but
Dr. Chess and Ally and the whole staff made me feel like it was no big deal. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
It's totally worth the 40 minute drive for my peace of mind
and they almost make dental work something to look forward to. I have another
appointment this week and I'm not apprehensive at all - THAT IS A MIRACLE!!!<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I can't recommend them enough. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I seldom go home and write a review within a few hours - but
I wished there had been more dentist reviews when I was searching locally - so
I'm hoping this helps someone.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Bottom line - I would highly HIGHLY recommend Dr. Chess (and
the office staff is also totally friendly - rare to find great doctors and
great office staff!).<o:p></o:p></div>

You'll find this quaint charming corner restaurant up the street from the courthouse. Loved the ability to sit outside on the wide porch and watch tourists and locals stroll by. Though I didn't sit inside, I did a small walk though and it was very homey and comfortable, more as if you're a very welcome guest in the home of really good friends.<br />
I had the fully loaded cheddar cheese biscuit. OMG.<br />
HELLO.<br />
It's rare to find homemade cheddar cheese biscuits anywhere in the north east so of course I had to try it and it was fantastic.<br />

It was a marinated grilled chicken breast that was moist and plump on the most delicate tasty biscuit that had just a hint of cheddar cheese. Sweet onions and peppers complimented the chicken and a chipotle dressing brought it all together.<br />
Service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive.<br />
I spent most of my summers growing up in Nesquehoning so I'm very familiar with Jim Thorpe. Though it was my first visit to the Looking Glass, it certainly won't be my last!<br />

Clean, bright, huge TV's to watch sports in between tweeting, four squaring, facebooking, and talking to the person you're with while eating. Hehe.<br />
We had the Irish Fries - scallions, bacon, Irish Cheddar and served with seasoned sour cream. Of course, they were fabulous. Fries remained hot and crispy even with all the toppings. They have an awesome selection of "dressed up" fries - including Italian fries, king crab fries, and Freedom fries (with pork roll and ranch!).<br />
John had the "Trainer" - a roast beef wrap with swiss, cole slaw, and garlic aioli. It was the spicy garlic aioli that really made this wrap a winner.<br />
Since it is bikini season, I asked if I could have a chicken salad wrap - but instead of a wrap, could they put it on a salad? (I'd already overindulged with the fantastic fries!). They were happy to oblige.<br />

Unlike most hoagie shops - Coach's has a few desserts. We didn't try, unfortunately, and I guess we'll just have to make sure to return! But they sound awesome: Maryanne pound cake, a butter cake (secret family recipe) and cookies from the Maryanne bakery.<br />
The one itme Coach's is lacking in is salads. But the simple solution to that - is do what I did - just request any hoagie/wrap item be turned into a salad.<br />
Prices are extremely reasonable and counter staff are friendly.<br />

What makes this place unique to the area is it's "fast food done healthy" AND offers a drive thru.<br />
However, I would highly advise eating in at least one time - if only to sit under the "trees" that have mason jar lights hanging from them! The place has such a fresh vibe - not overly artsy fartsy - just clean and welcoming with Jack Johnson playing over the speakers.<br />
I had the Cabo Taco wrap - one of the most popular wraps I'm told. While it was good, I guess I thought it might have a little more kick. KT had the chicken fingers and said they were the best she's ever had. And she eats a ton of chicken fingers. So - for a teenage girl to say "these are the best..."<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjs0jfLzCZ57RJdneOnwoS4mlGiuVdk7vG76snrfGy-cYOVn2dcN2cNLgWsxjSxHhMcRu7bBA11ELV5gIBIjRhc1xAWD_hBRUPVyriX_5XM4jU34oMp6GHsr_o5vLsFibo8dvCjGJSTofQ/s1600/124.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjs0jfLzCZ57RJdneOnwoS4mlGiuVdk7vG76snrfGy-cYOVn2dcN2cNLgWsxjSxHhMcRu7bBA11ELV5gIBIjRhc1xAWD_hBRUPVyriX_5XM4jU34oMp6GHsr_o5vLsFibo8dvCjGJSTofQ/s320/124.JPG" width="240" /></a></div> We tried the popcorn and sweet potato fries. Nothing spectacular in taste - however - the popcorn is served in a paper bag and there are a variety of spices you can shake into the bag - ranch, BBQ, crab, sharp cheddar...I'm probably missing one or two...but we tried the ranch and cheddar - both very good!<br />
One of the things I love best is the natural soda. Bryn and Dane's uses the same company the <a href="http://meltdowngc.com/">Melt Down </a>uses <a href="http://www.newhopefountain.com/">New Hope Premium Fountain</a> which has no crap you can't spell in it - and comes in awesome flavors - watermelon is my favorite - followed by the skinny root beer which has this awesome spicy zing to it!<br />
I can't wait to try ALL the wraps and salads and breakfast items.<br />
One bone of contention...sorry...and this will hopefully change...I checked the <a href="http://www.brynanddane.com/">www.Brynanddane.com </a> site looking for store hours - couldn't find any info. I tried to call the number listed - it was disconnected (215-554-2796). We decided to stop by anyway at 10:30 - walked in and was told (politely) they don't open until 11:00.<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3I-on1VVvnPLNMFEmpdegja3HbfCZ86xJ7-PlISCSSl0VqPsvqbTvRq2Cj9_qA7VGdpMBaQvI8YtyTbvwWtZ7to0EEzu8OuELiLdP9D97er6Q9clFsY2FQEj5X9BZK7vejCrfTWUNMqA/s1600/128.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3I-on1VVvnPLNMFEmpdegja3HbfCZ86xJ7-PlISCSSl0VqPsvqbTvRq2Cj9_qA7VGdpMBaQvI8YtyTbvwWtZ7to0EEzu8OuELiLdP9D97er6Q9clFsY2FQEj5X9BZK7vejCrfTWUNMqA/s200/128.JPG" width="150" /></a>In a world of mobile media/social media - it seems a big mistake not to make sure your website and FB page have all the details needed (correct phone and store hours). This is often the first impression a customer will have and I can't count the number of times I go to a stores website and have to search around to locate the hours and or phone number. It should be on the landing page - easy to find!<br />
That said, I have no doubt Bryn and Dane's will be a hit in the Horsham area!Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1940398600353446754.post-48821245761322888292012-01-03T05:38:00.000-08:002012-01-03T05:46:38.989-08:00Ristorante Il Melograno - Best Italian in Bucks County!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrZqA2R2dHtJwWWhVC4otNoX9i_6hGV_IsI3so0lf2_us4l7fADOlPXs_98SOgHdBWMLo0gpUxLPwPZQaEQ0tJFCrJWH-vUqANXy2Ke5giWkjkxIAIkflzczUJbYruKtONQhh31wFsyZE/s1600/032.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrZqA2R2dHtJwWWhVC4otNoX9i_6hGV_IsI3so0lf2_us4l7fADOlPXs_98SOgHdBWMLo0gpUxLPwPZQaEQ0tJFCrJWH-vUqANXy2Ke5giWkjkxIAIkflzczUJbYruKtONQhh31wFsyZE/s320/032.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><a href="http://ilmelogranodoylestown.com/"> Ristorante Il Melograno</a> is really difficult for me to prounce so I just refer to it as the 'best Italian restaurant in Bucks County). An "authentic" Italian restaurant in a SHOPPING CENTER?? - hell yeah bitches! We've been here twice, once for lunch and for dinner (I chose this for my birthday celebration - that's how much I love it).<br />
Small, but inviting and cozy.<br />
Staff - excellent, attentive, but with heavy Italian accent - just nod and smile if you can't figure out what they are saying.<br />
Owner is also the Chef.<br />
Food is SO DAMN GOOD.<br />
I mean, seriously.<br />

He was astounded by the actual LOBSTER in the bisque. He loved it and said he could eat it everyday for the rest of his life and not get sick of it.<br />
I had the Mozzarella all Caprese salad - who knew mozzarella, tomatoes and roasted peppers could taste so fresh and explode with flavor at the same time?<br />
The second visit, I had a special of the night salad, which was beets with blue cheese - HELLO, this was FABULOUS.<br />
The first visit, I had Pollo all cacciatora which was just perfect. LOML had Scampi e Faggioli and gave it a hefty thumbs up.<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXjbtwOFReLiDd3GyJ2blufqEhFEgB76AY0ncUFd71f5xJkDse88V1Hrs11svL4ZfVoGxOBJvbj5igVVAq_xpl3b5yqQe4AxKJZgqdeJWI9pvq4lBQV-fGRVxx2Vcrrv-7RTw4WCaOueA/s1600/036.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXjbtwOFReLiDd3GyJ2blufqEhFEgB76AY0ncUFd71f5xJkDse88V1Hrs11svL4ZfVoGxOBJvbj5igVVAq_xpl3b5yqQe4AxKJZgqdeJWI9pvq4lBQV-fGRVxx2Vcrrv-7RTw4WCaOueA/s200/036.JPG" width="200" /></a>We both had dessert - he had Creme Brulee (of course) and loved it so much, he had it the second visit and proclaimed it the best he's ever had. And seriously, it's about all he ever orders for dessert, so he has many different Creme Brulee to compare it to.<br />
I had Italian Rum cake the first time (soooo good and moist) and the second time I had a special of the night dessert, which I can't remember what it was called, but it was fabulous (see the picture).<br />
The second visit, we split the gnocci al pomodoro - little pillows of potato goodness. I wished I'd ordered a whole dish to myself so I could take some home...<br />
LOML had the Scampi al Aglio for his main dish (he loved) and I had the beef medallions sauteed in a peppercorn sauce (divine).<br />
No "quirky" food here (I love quirky food) - just authentic, fantastically flavorful food, brought to you by friendly attentive staff.<br />

And my cappuccino came with a snowman rendering in the foam!<br />
Hands down, my favorite Italian restaurant in Bucks/Montgomery county!!! And so far, even beats out the Philly places I've tried!!<br />
Make it a New Years Resolution to try it!!!<br />

There were German Shepherds (adorable!!) and many other breeds (they are known for their Jack Russell terriers I later found out).</div><div>Jeremy came out to help us almost immediately. Do not be afriad of Jeremy. He was very kind and helpful and didn't pressure us in anyway. (Like we needed any extra help - we knew we were doomed as soon as we held the first puppy!).</div><div>I did notice a bit of a cough and Jeremy sent us home with meds just in case. Jack Henry came with papers and had already received the vaccinations that were due.</div><div>Once we got home, I became concerned about the cough. We'd just lost our dog Diablo unexpectedly, and I had "new mom" syndrome and panicked because of the recent loss of Diablo so I took him to our vet, Ark Animal, which happens to be the same vet Jeremy uses. They put Jack on a round of antibiotics and when I called Jeremy to let him know, he paid for the whole vet bill and was very very professional and kind. We later heard from many friends that new puppies and or rescues they'd gotten from either other breeders or shelters often had the same thing. I met other people who'd bought their dogs there and 2 had dogs that were fabulously healthy, awesome dogs, and one person said her puppy had been sick but that they also took care of the vet bills and now her Boxer is happy healthy and wonderful.</div><div>When I talked to Jeremy after Jack went to the vet, he gave me the name and number of a person who had bought a puppy from the same litter a few days before, in case I wanted reassurance. I think, it's not unreasonable to expect that a new puppy from any breeder might not be in tip top health - crap happens! What SHOULD be expected is for the business to work with the customer to remedy the situation - which Jeremy at Jacks Dog Farm absolutely did. Keep in mind too, if you call someone to complain and start off the conversation with a bad attitude, it doesn't help the situation. You should expect to be treated the same way you are treating the other person.</div><div>After I got home, I did some research on Jacks Dog Farm and read some horribly written reviews - I know animal people are passionate and sometimes over the top - and I think that Jacks might have been targeted by these crazy over the top people - and from the way they can barely piece a sentence together, I find it hard to believe they can afford to pay for a pure bred dog.</div><div>If you are thinking about going to Jack's Dog Farm, please, just stop by and see for yourself!</div><div>Also, Jack Henry's temperament is AWESOME! Every time we take him out (to kids soccer games/field hockey/the park) - everyone compliments how laid back and easy going he is!</div><div>We're so happy with him and I give Jack's Dog Farm 5 Stars for such a wonderful dog and 5 Stars for the way they handled our situation.</div><div><br /></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1940398600353446754.post-711863218370567342011-10-25T06:41:00.000-07:002011-10-25T06:45:56.236-07:00Ark Animal Hospital - Best Vet in Bucks County!<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: left; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;"><tbody>

My Australian Cattle Dog Diablo HATED going to the vet, so we went once to <a href="http://www.arkanimalhospital.evetsites.net/index.pml">Ark Animal Hospital</a> and went to outdoor clinics for his rabies updates (he tolerated these slightly better). Then Diablo decided to lunge at the tires of a dump truck while we were waiting to cross the street and I rushed him to Ark Animal. I can't even begin to tell you how caring and compassionate the staff was. From the receptionist to the techs to the doctors. Diablo is no longer with us and we miss him terribly but we have a chocolate lab puppy now- who had a case of kennel cough and pneumonia and so we've REALLY got to know the staff at Ark Animal and they are all truly wonderful. From calling to make an appointment, to the clean and spacious office, and as an added bonus, I love the Ark Animal pets that wander around - esp. Zander the Cattle Dog.<br />

***also of note- my daughter (8 years old at the time) - spotted a bunny on the road that had been horribly injured and was barely breathing. She insisted we take it to the vet so we took it to Ark Animal where they graciously stopped it's suffering. Hearing that my daughter wanted to be a vet one day, they offered to give her a tour of the hospital which she loved and appreciated.<br />
Ark Animal truly goes above and beyond the call of animal duty!Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1940398600353446754.post-77799888610412704762011-07-08T03:25:00.000-07:002011-07-08T03:25:12.954-07:00Sundae School - Where Ice Cream is a Religious Experience<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 16px;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMANDuIAriAMUVmVC-8zkNBKEX2h2OvMnzIWHDIXQ9Ssnb1NpxHmOLp2xxKYNoRzUCWw9hef55JzwiSPB4lKb9Oc7cDzk9nyKoVGR7bLjynGJJRKLu828oBLkg1syxZeXEZ5TxbaObm0U2/s1600/sundaeschoolpeachpie.JPG" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5626924406146680578" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMANDuIAriAMUVmVC-8zkNBKEX2h2OvMnzIWHDIXQ9Ssnb1NpxHmOLp2xxKYNoRzUCWw9hef55JzwiSPB4lKb9Oc7cDzk9nyKoVGR7bLjynGJJRKLu828oBLkg1syxZeXEZ5TxbaObm0U2/s320/sundaeschoolpeachpie.JPG" style="cursor: pointer; float: left; height: 180px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 10px; margin-top: 0px; width: 320px;" /></a></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 16px;"><br />

</div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">As the 2 of you that read my blog know, I am a FAN of breakfast, but have never found any place (other than my kitchen) that makes my fork stand up and sing.</div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br />
</div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">Well, yesterday I went to Cross Keys Diner. Second time there. First time was good, but I ordered off the menu.</div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br />
</div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">Yesterday, there were so many specials that screamed 'fabulous' - and I couldn't decide between them all - so I picked 2.</div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br />
</div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">Eggs Estrada - scrambled eggs with andouille sausage, cheddar cheese, bacon, scallions, corn, tomatoes, with a side of homemade black beans and blue corn chips. Also - comes with homefries and toast.</div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br />
</div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">Seriously? This was the best breakfast food I've ever had. I wanted to finish it, but I couldn't. I took it home and ate it for dinner and it was still fantastic the second time around.</div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br />
</div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">I also had the sweet potato pecan pancakes. Nice. I wasn't overwhelmed w/ pecan - but these were subtly spicy and a nice compliment to the estrada.</div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br />
</div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0YUJTn82Z5_yYD0y8dOc04Xse35eilhb8DdbFobdnWT-MLP7TDdCp8jpu4llLfyZTFfsar5tGzwDYn8jzTnFejDzuqRd-xVOGCEspF3ByMP-sNJduh_fNA7vfoZY1fgKJZQ18UmvZUHS8/s1600/CrossKeysPhilly+%25289%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0YUJTn82Z5_yYD0y8dOc04Xse35eilhb8DdbFobdnWT-MLP7TDdCp8jpu4llLfyZTFfsar5tGzwDYn8jzTnFejDzuqRd-xVOGCEspF3ByMP-sNJduh_fNA7vfoZY1fgKJZQ18UmvZUHS8/s320/CrossKeysPhilly+%25289%2529.JPG" style="cursor: move;" width="320" /></a>I was torn between those and the oatmeal blueberry pancakes - but I'll save those for (hopefully) later. I say hopefully because these items were the "Specials" of the day - which are located on the blackboard - so make sure you take a look at the board when you arrive or ask your waitress. Actually, if you don't see anything you like on the special board - ask you waitress anyway. I know the first time we went, I didn't see anything that got me really excited. Then I ordered and a waitress went up to the blackboard and wrote "Corn Cakes" - ARGHHH! I would have so ordered that!</div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br />
</div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">I have to say though, the first time there, I ordered eggs/bacon/cinnamon raisin french toast and it was ALL fantastic. The bacon (unlike other diners) wasn't so thin I could see through it. The eggs were buttery. And the homefries were tasty. The cinnamon raisin french toast, while it didn't appear thick and hearty, it was the perfect combination of sweet, spicy, and even though John doesn't like raisins, he loved this dish anyway!</div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br />
</div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">The diner itself is sunny and warm and welcoming. It feels more like a cafe and less like a diner.The staff is friendly but not intrusive. Um, yeah, and when the waitress, Charlotte, (er, server, sorry) tells you that on her day off, she always wants to eat breakfast at the place she works, you KNOW the food is good!</div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br />
</div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">Also - they shop for their produce every morning and when it's gone, it's gone. When they say the food is fresh (and local), it is. And you can taste this is the food!</div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br />
</div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br />
</div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">I have been searching forever for the best breakfast place EVER and it is here, the Cross Keys Diner, where I will rest my weary coffee cup.</div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br />
